Join us or come and chat to us- and/or find some ideas below. Don't forget to take it easy on yourself and keep it manageable. Even little things help or inspire.
Raise the topic. Raise knowledge. Raise the care level. We're a herd, and there's wolves out there
Make climate care normal - don't be shy to mention things - such as avoiding food waste, not flying/driving etc
Wear your logo-shirt. The more people are seen to care, the more people are comfortable with caring. Expect to hear some bizarre stuff occasionally. Keep cool and amused (think Kamala Harris but more eco). Don't feel that you have to be the climate expert or that you need to convert everyone.
Influence business - Take a keep cup, take a bag, gently enquire about vegan options and gently refuse plastic bags. Gently refuse free merch from suppliers at work/conferences. Gently refuse to fly to conferences.
Petition your Government. I mean, they really should be aware, but they're not acting as if they are. They won't do much without outside influence.
Plant stuff. In a pot, your garden or elsewhere - you really can't go wrong with this. Replace lawn with meadow. Try some guerrilla gardening. Join a re-wilding or bush care project
Compost!
Use businesses that actively plant trees, e.g.
Ecosia for browsing the web and planting trees at the same time.. Switch to Ecosia browser or choose the Ecosia search engine for your browser.
Support an organisation that conserves or plants things, e.g.
Planet Wild. Here's what they do: We partner with some of the most innovative environmental organisations around the world that are working to create real and lasting impact. By funding local and grassroots rewilding projects, you are helping nature to bounce back.
Lock the Gate working together to stop coal and gas.
Divest. Divestment played a large part in ending apartheid in South Africa. Check your bank/super/shares
Check your bank out at bank.green and maybe move your $$
See if your shares are ethical and green
Keep pressure on the massive Superannuation funds
Question yourself and anything you hear. Find out about things.
Why drive to the shops and buy things because they're cheap?
Why eat meat just because it "tastes good"?
Why spray bugs and weeds?
Drive around less. Sadly this also includes people with EVs. We're kind of hooked on cars, but a single person driving also takes with them some strange stuff - a sofa, two arm chairs, 1000kg of metal, 500l of empty storage space, an air-conditioning system. You know, it's a little crazy when we just need a small bag?
Walk places and encourage others to walk. It's quite good for you and you see so much
cycle and advocate for safer cycling
Take public transport or car share.
Go vegan, or vegan adjacent, or vegetarian a few times a week
Think very carefully before you chose to fly or cruise
Refrain from cutting down trees and encourage others to do so. Cultivate bigger garden beds and less grass.
Avoid food waste. Eat up those boring leftovers or at least compost them
Refuse Tasmanian salmon.
